Similarly, cows in life are bad for the environment, but in death are victims of cruel factory farming practices. In this piece Holly blurs the lines between life and death and victim and perpetrator.

"Cows have always felt like an apt metaphor for the destruction of Nature. Just as Victor spurns the childlike new life that he creates, our society ignores the sentience of animals."

“In the natural world, there is an innate cycle of rebirth and destruction, but when human aspirations force premature destruction on the earth, that cycle is disrupted. In this case, we forget we are a part of the earth and its destruction is also our own. In that way the real ‘monster’ is human hubris against nature.”
