Sheyda Mehrara distills Gatsby’s central cast into abstracted line-drawn portraits featuring Nick, Gatsby, Wilson, Myrtle, Jordan, Daisy, and Tom. Each face, pared down yet expressive, carries a distinct mark of character: a gesture of color, a fragment of shape, an indication of desire or flaw. Tethered through a shared palette, the series reveals how identities bleed into one another, exposing the tangled web of love, betrayal, and ambition at the heart of the novel. At once playful and psychological, Sheyda’s portraits capture not just who these characters are, but the inner conflicts and contradictions that define them.

With a strong mottled texture and warm base tone, we’ve sourced a Hahnemühle German Etching paper that creates a print with strong colors and deep blacks to give that rich, high in contrast feel. Since the pronounced texture of the paper enables it to hold more ink, this paper gives each print a handmade crafted feel.

Prints are shipped flat in a protective parchment sleeve in between two sheets of stiff cardboard to keep prints flat in transit. If the artwork is damaged in any way during shipping, please contact us right away with photographs documenting any such damages.
